A large dark field, marked by vertical traces and layered veils, gives the whole an air of a wall worn by time. On the right, a broad light area, whitened and slightly pink, reveals a simple flower drawing, traced in fine lines like a fragile graffito. John Beckley sets this fragility against a small light square on the left, pierced at its center by a vivid red rectangle, sharp and compact. Between these two poles, the surface is charged with drips, scratches and regular marks, reinforcing the idea of a space that is both raw and delicate. The sketched flower, set against this damaged background, remains suspended in this tension between light and darkness.
