The colored bands seem to glide from top to bottom, straight or slightly inclined, as if caught in a continuous movement. John Beckley organizes these lines into two large lateral groupings, leaving a broad white area at the center that gives the composition its breath and clarity. The bold colors sit alongside softer gradients, notably in the blues and oranges, creating very luminous transitions between the crisp flat areas. Looking more closely, one notices the visual overlaps and variations in width, which give an impression of depth without leaving abstraction. The whole retains a very lively energy, carried by this back-and-forth of verticals crossing the white background.
