Fragments of posters, truncated typography and pieces of urban textures come together here in a large dense square, like a recomposed city wall. John Beckley organizes these scraps in superimposed layers, where deep browns, blacks and ochres rub against whitened, brighter areas. In the center, a broad white gesture in splashes and curves crosses the surface, links the elements and introduces a very lively movement. The textual details, sometimes legible, sometimes erased, add a dimension of interrupted narrative. The whole retains a very physical, tactile presence, carried by the contrast between the rough surfaces and this fluid white line that runs diagonally.
