The large red diagonals cross the surface like taut beams, while white arcs glide over them and create a fluid circulation throughout the square. John Beckley builds the composition through layering: sharp triangles, more diffuse bands and gray areas intersect, giving depth and transparency. The blurred, vaporous passages contrast with certain sharp edges, giving the whole a very lively rhythm. We follow these lines as they overlap, cut across, and shift apart, all the way to the center where the angles tighten and concentrate the work's energy.
