A wide golden band crosses the image and clearly separates two colorful worlds. Above, John Beckley layers bold, diagonal and vertical lines, highly saturated, that intersect in transparency and let rougher textures emerge, notably that splintered black line that breaks the geometric rigor. Below, the same directions continue but become vaporous, as if filtered through a white light that softens the tones and blurs the contours. This passage from density to lightness gives the whole a continuous movement, evoking the high structure reflected in a luminous surface in perpetual diffusion.
