Terra is built like a vibrant grid, where John Beckley layers bands, rectangles and diagonals to create a very dense abstract territory. The flat color fields, crisp and geometric, stand alongside areas marked by splashes, scratches and rougher textures, giving the eye several speeds of reading. Regular polka-dot motifs appear in places, with a strong graphic presence, and contrast with the white projections that cross the surface diagonally. This clear trajectory seems to disrupt the structure, evoking a sudden movement in the midst of the colored grid. The whole vibrates in a tense balance between rigorous construction and energetic overflow.
