Build custom pages

Beyond the standard pages (Works, Editions, The Artist, Reviews, Contact), Khroma lets you create custom pages: an Exhibitions page, a Classes page, a Partnerships page, whatever you want. The page builder works in blocks: you combine text, heading, image, gallery, button blocks, and arrange them freely.

This article describes how the builder works, the 12 available block types, the AI composer, and the layout options.

Where to find it

Dashboard → My site → Custom pages

The screen lists your existing pages (published and drafts). A counter shows your usage quota: {count}/{max} pages. The maximum depends on your plan.

To create a page, click Create. To edit an existing page, click on it in the list.

Page settings

Before building content, configure the page settings:

  • Page title — the title shown at the top of the page, and used in your site's menu if you add it.
  • Slug (URL) — your page's address. Khroma generates a default slug from the title; editable. The public URL of the page is khroma.art/\{your-name\}/\{slug\}, or \{your-domain\}/\{slug\} if you've connected a custom domain.
  • Show page title (toggle) — choose whether the title visually appears at the top of the page (useful when the page should have a prominent H1; turn off if you handle the title in a dedicated Heading block).

The 12 block types

You add blocks from a dropdown menu. Each block has a precise role.

Text and structure

  • Heading — a section title (h1, h2, h3 depending on level).
  • Text — a paragraph written in a rich-text editor (bold, italic, links, lists).
  • Quote — a typographically emphasised quote.
  • Checklist — a bullet list (useful for exhibition lists, classes, etc.).

Visuals

  • Image — a single image with optional caption.
  • Gallery — a grid of images.
  • Video — an embed of a video (YouTube, Vimeo).

Layout

  • Columns — a block containing two or three columns, in which you nest other blocks.
  • Divider — a thin horizontal line.
  • Spacer — a vertical space (useful to breathe).

Interaction

  • Button — a clickable button with label and URL.
  • Stats — a block of emphasised numbers (for example {N} works in collections worldwide, {N} years of practice).

Per-page limit

The maximum number of blocks per page is 40. Beyond that, adding new blocks is disabled. If you need more, split your content into two separate pages.

Compose with AI

Khroma offers an AI composer that turns plain text into structured blocks. Useful when you already have a written text (an artist's dossier, a long biography) you want to integrate quickly.

Click Compose with our AI above the blocks area. A dialog opens:

Paste your raw text and our AI will structure it into page blocks. You can then edit them.

Paste your text (up to several thousand characters), and click Compose. The AI processes your text in three visible passes via a progress bar:

  1. Analyzing text...
  2. Structuring into blocks...
  3. Applying styles...

It takes a few seconds. At the end, your page is filled with a series of blocks (headings, paragraphs, quotes, lists) you can freely modify, move, or delete.

The button then changes to Compose with AI (without the our prefix) if the page already contains blocks: a new AI pass replaces the whole.

The AI composer saves time but needs proofreading. The proposed structure is often imperfect: move blocks, adjust heading levels, remove duplicates. Treat the output as a draft, not a final version.

Manipulate blocks

On each block, an action bar appears on hover with several icons:

  • ▲ ▼ — move the block up or down by one slot.
  • Duplicate this block — identical copy placed just below.
  • ✕ — delete the block (immediate action; save before if you hesitate).

You can also drag-and-drop blocks directly in the list.

Block styles

For most blocks (text, heading, image…), you can apply a visual style via the Style: selector:

  • None — standard rendering, neutral background, no border.
  • Card — the block sits in a card with a slightly contrasted background.
  • Highlight — accent-coloured background.
  • Border — a thin frame around the block.
  • Dark — dark background, light text.

A Full width toggle appears when a style is active: it lets the block extend to the full page width (beyond the central container).

Use styles sparingly — too many Card or Highlight blocks tire the eye.

Preview

A Preview / Edit toggle at the top of the page switches between the editor (with handles and action buttons) and the preview (final rendering as visitors see it).

Use preview regularly to check spacing and visual coherence.

Save

A save bar appears automatically at the bottom of the screen as soon as you modify a block:

  • Saving... — during save.
  • Saved — save successful.

Saving is manual: click Save when you want to persist your changes. As long as you don't click, modifications are kept locally but lost if you leave the page.

SEO

At the bottom of the screen, a SEO & search accordion lets you optimise the page for search engines:

  • SEO title — defaults to the page title. Recommended limit: 60 characters.
  • SEO description — the description shown in search results. Counter: {count}/160 recommended.

If these fields stay empty, Khroma uses the page title as the SEO title and attempts to generate a description from the content.

Publish or stay in draft

A page can be in draft (visible only to you) or published (accessible at your URL). Buttons at the top right manage the status:

  • Publish — makes the page publicly accessible.
  • Unpublish — moves it back to draft.

A draft page has a reachable URL (for example khroma.art/{your-name}/{slug}) but returns Page in draft to a non-logged-in visitor. You see the normal rendering when logged in.

Add a page to the menu

Once the page is published, you can add it to your site's navigation menu. This happens in the page list: action Add to menu on the relevant row. A Save menu order button confirms the new arrangement.

You can also leave the page off the menu — it stays accessible via its direct URL, useful if you want to share it specifically with certain contacts.

Translate a page

If you've enabled auto-translation on your site (see Create your site), a translation panel appears in the page editor. You can provide a manually translated version, or let the AI generate a default translation that you correct.

Each visitor sees the version that matches their browsing language, with a fallback to the main language if the translation is missing.

Frequently asked questions

How many custom pages can I create?

The quota depends on your plan: Dashboard → My plan. The counter at the top of the page list shows your current usage.

Can a draft page be indexed by Google?

No. Draft pages return an HTTP status that prevents indexing. Until you click Publish, the page won't appear in any search engine.

Can I embed a YouTube video in a page?

Yes, via the Video block. Paste the YouTube or Vimeo URL; Khroma extracts the ID and generates the embed. The video plays directly in the page.

How do I add a contact form to a custom page?

The Button block can point to your existing Contact page. For an embedded form, that's not possible in the current builder — use your site's native Contact page, which already includes a form.

How do I delete a page I no longer use?

From the page list, click the page then Delete this page. Deletion is final: the page and all its blocks are erased.

Does the AI composer work in multiple languages?

Yes, it generates blocks in the language of the text you pass. If you give it French text, it produces French blocks. For a translated version, use the translation panel on the existing page rather than running a fresh AI composition.
