Create your artist website

Khroma lets you publish a personal website to showcase and sell your work. This article covers the full path, from signup to the moment your site goes public. Plan around an hour if you do it in one go; you can also complete each step at your own pace from your dashboard.

Create your account

Go to the signup page, enter your email, and choose a password of at least 8 characters. A checkbox lets you opt in to Receive the KHROMA newsletter (announcements, artist features, events). Click Create my account.

You receive a confirmation email at the address you provided. The account becomes active only after you click the link — this prevents automated signups and confirms the address is yours.

Once logged in, Khroma redirects you to the onboarding wizard, which generates your site in six steps.

The six-step onboarding wizard

The onboarding produces a fully populated site (texts generated from your photos and your answers), which you can then adjust freely. You can leave and resume at any time.

Step 1 — Profile

You enter the information that will appear across your site:

• Profile photo: shown on your homepage and on The Artist page.
• Artist name: the name that will appear on your site.
• Gender: Male or Female. Used only for grammatical agreement in AI-generated French texts; never displayed.
• Main discipline: painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, digital art, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, illustration, or other.
• Main technique: refined based on your discipline.
• Site type: Portfolio (showcase only, no shop or cart) or Online shop (shop active, prices visible, cart enabled).
• Your site language: the language you write your content in. If you later enable auto-translation, translations are generated from this source language.

Step 2 — Photos

Drag in up to 3 images of your work (JPG, PNG, WebP). Our AI analyses them to generate the texts of your site at step 6. Three images are enough to set the tone; you'll publish your full body of work afterwards.

Steps 3 and 4 — Style and inspirations

A series of sliders (Instinctive/Methodical, Figurative/Abstract, Emotional/Conceptual…) and tags (nature, urban, sea, travel…) calibrate the tone of the generated texts. You also enter where you work, your years of practice, and the number of pieces you have sold across your career (all platforms combined).

Step 5 — Generation

The AI writes your texts in roughly twenty seconds. You see a loader while it runs.

Step 6 — Publication

You land on a screen that gathers all the generated texts: professional title, tagline, presentation, story, artistic statement, homepage sections, and three trust points. Everything is editable: each field is an input or a rich-text editor. Three actions are available:

• Regenerate the texts ✨ — runs another generation pass.
• Edit my answers — goes back to earlier steps to adjust your sliders or inspirations.
• Publish my site 🚀 — takes your site live immediately.

Once published, you see a success screen with your URL and two buttons: View my site and Add my first artwork. Your site is now publicly accessible.

Your URL and your site name

By default, your site is reachable at khroma.art/{your-name}, where {your-name} is an identifier Khroma generates from your artist name. This identifier is not editable from the dashboard; if you need to change it, contact support.

You can also connect a domain you own (for example your-name.com). This happens in Dashboard → My site → Settings, section Custom domain. See Connect a custom domain for the DNS configuration details.

Portfolio or Online shop: which mode to choose

The site mode determines how your work is presented to visitors. You set it at step 1 of the wizard, and you can change it at any time from Dashboard → My site → Settings.

My Works (Portfolio mode) — to showcase your work. No prices displayed, no buy button. Suitable if you present your practice without direct online sales, or if you prefer buyers to contact you by email before any commitment.

Sales — Prices visible, "Available" badges, buy CTA. Suitable when you want the shop active. Online sales additionally require connecting a Stripe account to receive payments (see Configure Stripe Connect) and setting up shipping profiles.

You can switch from Portfolio to Sales mode when your shop is ready, without losing your work or your catalogue.

What your site includes

A Khroma site contains several pages. Not all of them are always shown in the menu: some appear only after you've added content to them.

• Works — a space for your original creations. Appears in the menu as soon as one listing is published.
• Editions — a second, separate space for reproductions and mechanical prints. Appears as soon as one listing is published. See Works and editions: how Khroma draws the line.
• The Artist — your biography, background, and artistic statement.
• Reviews — feedback from your buyers (Sales mode).
• Contact — a form so visitors can write to you.
• Custom pages (optional) — you can create additional pages via the page builder. See Build custom pages.

After publication

Your site is live as soon as the wizard ends. The natural next steps: add your work, configure the shop if you're in Sales mode, refine your homepage.

• Publish your first artwork for the detailed walkthrough of the listing form.
• Configure Stripe Connect to enable payments.
• Configure your shipping profiles to set your shipping rates.

Frequently asked questions

Is my site visible immediately after the wizard?

Yes. Publication happens when you click Publish my site 🚀 at step 6. Your URL khroma.art/{your-name} is reachable from that moment on.

Can I skip the wizard and configure everything manually?

The wizard is designed to produce a site that is already populated within minutes. If you prefer to write everything yourself, fill the steps minimally (name, discipline, site mode) and replace the generated texts with your own at step 6. Every section remains editable after publication.

Does my site work in French and English?

You pick your main language in the wizard (the language you write content in). Auto-translation to other languages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese) is enabled from Dashboard → My site → Settings.

Does Khroma take a commission?

Khroma charges a flat 5% commission on every sale, for all artists, regardless of plan. The full plan comparison (artwork allowance, features) is in Dashboard → My plan.

What if I want to delete my account?

Account deletion happens from Dashboard → My site → Settings, section Danger zone. It is irreversible: your personal data is deleted, but past orders are kept anonymously (legal requirement).
