A trajectory crosses the three panels like a beam sliding from left to right, stretched between large white voids and very dense black areas. John Beckley organizes this tension with large dark triangles, splintered with white splashes, facing colored bands that overlap in transparency. In these diagonals vibrate geometric motifs – cells, fine lines, grids – that layer over one another and create passages that are more or less luminous. The eye moves from one panel to the next, guided by this ribbon of color that crosses the space. The painting then seems to oscillate between graphic rigor and the chaotic energy of splashes.
