Riot is built like a long visual sentence, divided into three panels that remain firmly linked by the continuous central band. John Beckley sets a broad dark frieze, dense with intertwined lines, against large unified and warm surfaces, calm by contrast. The fine lines that run through the central section form a tight, luminous network, caught between two light bands with metallic reflections. Above and below, large black arcs cross the whole, draw sharp diagonals, and reframe this profusion. The small black dots punctuate the composition as understated markers, and the whole retains that peaceful tension between crisp geometry and overflowing movement.
